In his project “Sanctuary",” American nature photographer Billy Hickey portrays his favorite wildlife refuge in Concord, Massachusetts, his hometown. “During mental health struggles and broken hearts, I began prescribing myself time outside,” shares Billy.

“Returning to the same wildlife refuge as the seasons changed, as new news of deaths and injustices would emerge thru media, social or otherwise. I would seek refuge, among the trees, tall grass and wetlands. Eventually it became part of my life,” he recalls.

“These photos are born of the wonder and beauty of nature, and my gratitude in finding them. I hope you can find the same near you.”
